What should I do with the water filter cartridge if my water supplier informs me that there is a problem with my tap water?

We recommend that you always follow your water supplier's recommendations. If they instruct you to boil the water before drinking, we recommend that you filter the water first, then boil it. If boiled water is not required, clean the entire BRITA^® filter system and install a new filter element.
